CESL to launch mega tender for 10,900 e-buses across major Indian cities
State-owned Convergence Energy Services (CESL) is set to open a mega tender next month to procure 10,900 electric buses for cities including Hyderabad, Surat, Ahmedabad, Delhi and Bengaluru, marking a significant step in India’s transition to zero-emission public transport.
As per PTI, the tender is scheduled to open on 6 November 2025, comes under the National Electric Bus Programme and will cover multiple bus categories, including Standard Floor, Low Floor, and BRT models, both AC and non-AC.
Hyderabad is expected to receive around 2,000 buses, Surat and Ahmedabad together 1,600, Delhi 2,800, and Bengaluru will see the largest allocation with 4,500 buses. Once awarded, successful bidders will enter agreements with City Transport Undertakings to manage deployment, operation, and maintenance.
